Supporting Future Racing Careers
Since 2007 Pony Racing has become one of the country’s fastest growing equestrian sports and now plays a pivotal role in training and developing many talented young riders. Jack Osborne is one of those young riders hoping for a career in the racing industry. Whilst Jack is currently gaining some great experience as an apprentice at Newmarket, his family were keen to invest in some additional facilities at home.
The Challenge
Jack’s mum Fiona was keen to find an affordable material for their new home riding arena which would also be designed for optimal performance while minimising the impact on the horses and ponies Jack was riding at home. She was very aware that some surfaces have a negative impact on a horse’s joints and was keen to have something that didn’t ride too deeply.
Having heard about the maintenance requirements for some materials there were some other must-have requirements, including the need for minimal long-term maintenance and a surface that was heavy enough not to blow around in the wind. They were also interested in options for products which were recyclable and, therefore, environmentally friendly.

Our Solution
After finding our website online, with it’s easy to use surface cost calculator, Fiona was keen to find out more about our surfaces. Unlike some of the suppliers she considered, we’re a genuine equestrian surface manufacturer.
All three of our riding surfaces are produced to very high standards and are amongst the most stable and best performing options available. Any of them would have exceeded Fiona and Jack’s requirements, and with our advice they settled on our Superior Fibre surface. This product requires no maintenance and is manufactured from repurposed carpet tiles making it a highly desirable product for anyone concerned about the environment.

The results speak for themselves. The new ménage looks great and performs brilliantly. Jack is able to spend more time in the saddle focusing on his riding, while the ménage can be used continually, regardless of the weather and with no concerns about maintenance. Jack’s skills have been further perfected as the horses are confident on the surface, allowing for a better and more consistent overall performance. Both rider and horse are able to progress their skills, leading ultimately to better overall performance when it matters most!
